My Pledge
“It’s less than a generation since it was regarded as perfectly acceptable – in fact desirable – to remove someone from work they did well, they enjoyed and which made a contribution to society, at an arbitrary age. Today, with the likelihood that most people born this year will live to a hundred or more, mostly in good health, such an idea seems not just insulting but impossibly wasteful. Age irrelevance is a debate we must all engage with”
